How can dental sedation help you?

How can dental sedation help you?

At ProActive Dental Studio, our dentists strive to ensure that patients suffering from dental anxiety or heightened oral sensitivity can get the treatment they need in a comfortable and stress-free manner. Here's how dental sedation may be able to help you.

Dental Sedation

If you suffer from high levels of dental anxiety or increased oral sensitivity dental sedation may be right for you . Dental sedation can help patients to get through anything from routine cleanings to more invasive dental procedures and treatments in a calm and relaxed manner.

Because each of our patients is unique, and sedation needs differ greatly based on the individual's anxiety as well as the procedure, our Surrey dentists assess each patient's sedation requirements on a case-by-case basis.

Types of Dental Sedation

Minimal sedation:

You will not fall asleep with this type of sedation. Minimal sedation will cause you to feel calm and relaxed but still able to walk, talk and breathe as normal.

Moderate sedation:

Under moderate sedation you will feel drowsy and may doze off but you will still able to talk, hear and respond. A local anesthetic will still be required at the treatment site for pain management. You may or may not remember the procedure once your dental treatment is complete.

Deep sedation:

Deep sedation will put you to sleep, and you won't remember anything about the procedure. A local anesthetic will still be required at the treatment site for pain management while you are under deep sedation.

General anesthesia:

General anesthesia is the deepest level of sedation. Under this form of sedation you will be unconscious (feel as if you're asleep) and won't feel any pain during the treatment. Reflexes will be absent and you will require assistance breathing.

At ProActive Dental Studio our team of dental professionals want you to receive the treatment you need in a stress-free and comfortable manner. If you suffer from dental anxiety, general anxiety disorder, panic disorder, resistance to local anesthetic or unusually sensitive oral nerves, dental sedation may be right for you.
